- Two Haikus
Dark night of the soul,
Troubled mind,
Moon viewing party.
* * *
Laughing hard,
Sun and moon in sky.
Peaceful heart.
- Water night
Under the full moon,
Deep waters are stirred,
At beaches of your soul.

Under the full moon, Deep waters are stirred, At beaches of your soul.

(A poem, and one of the many reasons why I do sing.)
Why I sing. I sing for the man in the back row, who is unsure of himself, questioning and discovering the changing manners of his life. I sing for him because he is I, and I, him. I sing for the exaltation of his spirit and for the kindling of his flame. ...Because the truth is, he is sure of himself, he is just not sure of the answers yet. All our questions do have answers... so long as we are willing to ask them and wait a little, while conscious.
Recently, I listened to this piece, which I have heard and sung a good number of times, in a new light. It is beautiful and it got me thinking, isn't making sound and expression through our own bodies one of the best ways we can love ourselves? And the sound of a choir is so heavenly. Why is that so? How can a part of us be angels and of amazing beauty to us? Well I think that is it; I think there is something deeply telling in that we one of our visions of heaven is through our own collective and harmonious voices, cocreating something we consider to be beautiful.

The wonderful choir is Williamson Voices led by Dr. James Jordan and the piece is, Love's as Warm as Tears, by Paul Mealor. |
